Goodsociety To Give Away Halloween

The socially conscious outfitter and collective GoodSociety has announced plans to give away Halloween, a seven billion dollar a year industry.

In August they will be launching CostumeStudio.com, a website carrying one of the world’s largest selections of costumes and other Halloween related items. GoodSociety will use 100% of the profits from purchases made this Halloween to build an orphanage in India, free women from forced prostitution, feed starving children, help the invisible children of Africa, and much more.

“We did the quick math,” says Fashion Director Quang Dinh, “seven billion dollars would feed over a hundred million starving children for an entire year. I love Halloween more than most, but something needed to be done.”

Each CostumeStudio.com customer will be able to choose from a list of causes to donate the profit from their purchase toward. GoodSociety has been signing charities up for the program, and the response has been tremendous. Many musicians and celebrities are also teaming up with the endeavor to support their favorite causes.

“Costume Studio represents a key innovation in fundraising for charitable organizations. It’s difficult to ask for more money, especially with a weak economy, but reaching out to your existing base of supporters and asking them to do what they’re already doing – that doesn’t take much. Everybody buys costumes, and now they can support their favorite charity while they’re at it. It’s a no-lose proposition,” says Dinh.

The CostumeStudio.com endeavor is part of GoodSociety’s unique approach toward creating a society focused on tangibly improving the world around them. “Right now, we’re removing the barrier of entry to doing good,” says CEO Salil Jain. “By creating opportunities for good that integrate into people’s lives, we’re enabling them to contribute even when their energy, time, funds, or motivation might otherwise fall short.”

CostumeStudio.com will launch in the first half of August, the beginning of the Halloween buying season.
