McCreery shares a glimpse of where he came from and the impact his faith, family and friends have had on a humble guy who keeps asking “why me?” This is his journey from his North Carolina roots to winning America’s most popular singing competition and moving on to launch the musical career he had always dreamed about.

Go Big or Go Home (ISBN 9780310345220, hardcover) retails at $24.99 and goes on sale from Zondervan May 3, 2016. It is currently available for pre-order at Amazon.com, BarnesAndNoble.com, Walmart.com, and ChristianBook.com.

Scotty McCreery burst onto the national music scene in 2011 at age 17 as the winner of “American Idol” Season 10, quickly establishing himself as one of country music’s hottest new stars. Now 22 years old, the talented singer/songwriter has sold more than 2.5 million albums. He made history as both the youngest artist and the first male country artist to debut his first studio album atop the all-genre Billboard Top 200 chart with his Platinum-certified album Clear as Day.  All three of his albums have debuted at No. 1 on a Billboard chart including the Gold-certified Christmas with Scotty McCreery and his most recent album, See You Tonight.  He has achieved one Gold (the Top Ten hit “Feelin’ It”) and three Platinum-certified singles (“The Trouble with Girls,” “I Love You This Big,” and the Top Ten hit “See You Tonight”). McCreery has earned the Academy of Country Music’s New Artist of the Year Award (2011), CMT Music Award for Breakthrough Video of the Year (for “The Trouble with Girls” in 2012), American Country Award for New Artist of the Year (2011) and Breakthrough Artist of the Year (2013), and a BMI Award for writing one of the Top 50 Country Songs of 2015 (“See You Tonight”). The readers of NASH Country Weekly Magazine voted him “Country Music’s Sexiest Man 2015” and the readers of the Los Angeles Times named him the “Best American Idol.” For more information, please visit www.ScottyMcCreery.com. Renowned Cleveland, OH-Based Artist DEREK HESS Releases his First Limited Edition Book, “HE AINT NO VARGAS”

Signed and Numbered Limited Edition of 500 Hardbound Copies

Forward by Playboy Executive Editor Jason Buhrmester

Derek Hess book cover

He Ain’t No Vargas is a limited edition book containing an extensive collection of grease pencil nudes by Derek Hess that utilize Playboy magazine covers as canvases. The pieces were created using 1960s and 1970s era Playboys— the very same issues Hess first discovered as a fourth grader. The nostalgia brought back by the taboo material of Hess’ childhood made the project even more fun for the artist. Drawing loose and fast, Hess was able to capture the vibrant feeling of the figure.

The book has drawings spanning from the beginning of his experimentation with Playboys back in 2010 all the way into his most recent works done in August, 2013. Vargas refers to the artist Alberto Vargas, who was responsible for the pin-up nudes in Playboy for decades, and the book title is a tongue-in-cheek shot at Hess and his ability to draw. Hugh Hefner gave his personal blessing, perhaps giving the book the highest praise one can receive from Playboy magazine.

Derek Hess’s work has been recognized in both the music and art world for over 20 years. Hess began creating promo flyers for shows in Cleveland, OH. These flyers soon gained the attention of a multitude of bands as well as the GRAMMY Museum, The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Louvre in Paris which he is part of their permanent collections. In addition to countless cd covers and gallery shows all over the world, he has been featured on TLC, MTV, Fuse, VH1, Alternative Press, Newsweek and Juxtapoz to name a few.
